Blog 30- Race Prep
This week’s Blog video is a re-post of a video I did a couple of years ago for the preparation for a 5k/10k and half marathon. The only change I would change from what I state in the video is regarding the eating during a 1/2 Marathon and Marathon. I now recommend having a half Powerbar or a 2nd Surge Gel packet about every 3-4 miles during the race. I actually have a document that I can email anyone who is interested in having more information about race prep dieting and hydration. Just let me know.
Good luck if you have entered the Warrior Dash on Oct 15th or the Rock n’ Roll on Oct 23. I hope you will consider joining us at the Gumbo Flats Pumpkin Run on Oct 29th.

Jack LaLanne- R.I.P.
The Fitness industry lost a legend yesterday! Jack LaLanne died at the age of 96 from complications of pneumonia. He brought fitness into the homes of Americans and has been a main-stay in the promotion of a healthy lifestyle for the last 60 years.
When he turned 43 in 1957, Jack LaLanne performed more than 1,000 push-ups in 23 minutes on the “You
Asked For It” television show.
At 60, he swam from Alcatraz Island to Fisherman’s Wharf in San Francisco — handcuffed, shackled and
towing a boat.
Ten years later, at age 70, he performed a similar feat in Long Beach harbor.
“The only way you can hurt the body is not use it,” LaLanne said. “Inactivity is the killer and, remember,
it’s never too late.”
Jack lived as he preached and he will be remembered always! I’ve attached a video from YouTube that display his physical prowess. Check it out when you get the chance.
Rest In Peace Jack!
